What’s difference in between the “M50x” than “M50” ?
- The old M50 model provides you two options Coiled Cable or Straight Cable, where the cable is hard wired to the main headset i.e. it is not removable type.
Whereas the M50x model provides you Interchangeable cables :- 1.2 m – 3.0 m (3.9′ – 9.8′) coiled cable
- 3.0 m (9.8′) straight cable
- 1.2 m (3.9′) straight cable
- M50x has improved leather padding
- Different color options [See table above]
So looking at very fine refinements above, the old or new once gets functional improvement rather than the basic sound quality … So if your old once are working fine then very little need to upgrade with M50x or if you are getting some good offers on M50 [old] then no harm in still buying them.
However at $150 price-point, if you feel the heat to your pocket, then just check out Sony’s MDR-V7506 offering almost closer performance at lower price-point.
