Great form of confusion created after launch of iOS 11 by Apple Inc.
So no more simple things like tap to turn the Bluetooth or WiFi OFF in all new OS by Apple which is iOS 11 !!
How the Bluetooth and WiFi works in Control center with iOS 11 ?
Here I have prepared simple table explaining the new control status and how you can control it using control center.
New OS Launch Apple | iOS 11 |
Applicable to | iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch with iOS 11 and later |
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connection states |
|
Connected | Blue Bluetooth or WiFi icon, means your iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi and/or Bluetooth |
Disconnected | Tap and your iPhone gets disconnected from Wi-Fi or Bluetooth accessories However Both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth will continue to be available, so you can use these important features:
|
Off | Needs to be done Manually ! For Bluetooth: Settings > Bluetooth > OFFFor Wi-Fi: Settings > Wi-Fi > OFF |
Why ? What is purpose of new control center settings for BT & WiFi ?
Remember, in new settings while you switch off WiFi or Bluetooth by single tap it will immediately cut-off all connections, however both BT & WiFi services will keep running for important services like Airdrop, Airplay, Pencil, watch, hotspot and location services.
Further in this semi-disconnected state, your iPhone will still join known Wi-Fi networks when you change locations by walking or driving to a new location and / or restart your device.
Oh No !! Apple .. could you please introduce a simple Long Press or 3D touch to completely turn the WiFi or Bluetooth OFF ? Please .. this will make life simple and fast !!
Connected | Cellular Data and Personal HotSpot |
Off |
Enabled | Airplane Mode |
Enabled | AirDrop will stay blue whether it is set to “Contacts Only” or “Everyone.” |
I am not sure what makes Apple making such things which are not intuitive …
But I think this is the way Apple was and is since ages !
People are used to get surprises and shocks from Apple all the time …
