Mpow H7 vs H7 Plus – Worth Spending 60% more price?

Mpow is emerging strongly in the world of headphones and I am seeing their good focus on the customer service. As a result Mpow have sold more than 12 million headphones so far (as on May 2019). Well that is the reason I keep an eye over the latest upgrades launched by Mpow and check what is NEW offered by Mpow in the upgrade version. In this case I have found that Mpow has introduced Mpow H7 PLUS which is new version for the predecessor Mpow H7.

So lets compare and find what is NEW in the Mpow H7 PLUS for you and at what cost?

What is common between these two headphones?

Design

Basically Mpow H7 and H7 PLUS are Wireless Bluetooth Over-ear Headphones which are designed to be a value for money product. A headphone for everyone at affordable range with long lasting durability and good quality of sound using Bluetooth 4.1 technology for flawless wireless communication.

The purpose is served since H7 & H7 PLUS are compatible to most of the Bluetooth devices in market including your Android phone, Google Pixel phone, Tablets, PC (you can use wired 3.5mm jack)

The earphones uses 40 mm drivers and Soft memory protein ear-pads providing comfort for longer duration listening. The design is quite light compared to the benchmarks in market so that it does not fatigue you after wearing. However I suggest that during summer season you should take off the headphones every 1-2 hrs for relaxing and easing out the sweating. 

Also the ear-pad design is such that it isolates the sound coming inside as well as bleeding outside, this avoids someone else getting irritated due to music that you are listening to.

Further the stretchable headband with stainless steel slider ensures good fit to most of the head sizes including kids at home.

While you travel outside, simply swivel the earmuffs to lay flat and put inside the portable carrying pouch provided.

Controls

Look at the info-graphics below showing simple layout of control buttons which are located on the right hand ear-cup. You can see the touch control for volume, a small circular call button separated properly so that you can easily press them without being confused about the function while not looking at it.

There is also a LED located besides the media controls which shows the battery status.

And finally look at the 3.5 mm audio jack, micro-USB & Mic. All pretty intuitive and simple.

Bluetooth 4.1 – Flawless Wireless Duel connection

Both headphones carry the updated Bluetooth 4.1 technology which means you will be able to maintain a stable wireless connection with your mobile phone at a distance of over 30 feet in the clear line of sight.

Also Bluetooth 4.1 permits duel connectivity, which means you will be able to connect these headphones to your phone to receive calls as well as say tablet to watch a movie.

Powerful Battery – lasts for 15-18 hours of continuous wireless operation

Both these headphones carry a built-in 420 mAh batter pack which can deliver about 15 to 18 hours of playtime which is more than suffice for a weeks use to me.

The recharging happens via a standard micro-USB port in around 3-4 hours.

Sound Quality

The sound quality is good considering the 40 mm drivers, I have seen people comparing these headphones with Bose forgetting about the price they are paying for!! Please do keep in mind that they deliver pretty descent quality of sound when you keep in mind that you are just paying $22 bucks!

Anyway mostly the CSR chip does the work for you to manipulate the sound delivered through the 40 mm drivers, which does descent job.

In case of H7 PLUS, you get CSR 8645 Chip for APTX Sound as against Hi-Fi Stereo Sound in H7 precious version.

However question is if its worth paying 60% more money to get AptX?

Hands-Free calls – CVC 6.0

Here the microphone is handled by the CVC 6.0 noise cancelling technology, which works on its own algorithm filtering out noses around you during call making the communication clear and crisp.

Mpow H7 vs H7 Plus – Differences to find if its worth spending 60% more money

Extra set of Protein ear-pads

The Mpow H7 Plus comes with an extra set of soft memory protein earmuffs.

Mpow H7 Plus have two sets – one thick earmuffs sized 3 x 3.7 inches and spare set of thin earmuffs sized 3.1 x 3.9 inches, you can choose any one of them to suit your personal taste.

Sound Quality

The Mpow H7 Plus claims better improved sound quality using CSR 8645 Chip delivering APTX Sound while using the same diameter of drivers i.e. 40 mm.

Color

The Mpow H7 baseline model is available in Black, Blue, Light Grey as against The Mpow H7 Plus comes only in Black color

Bottom line

So considering that Mpow H7 Wireless Headphones when purchased for price of around $22 (as on 19 May 2019) makes a perfect choice over the Mpow H7 Plus.

Mpow H7 are more comfortable and lighter, perfect for work, commuting or exercising. They provide wireless connectivity, 18 hours playtime,  CVC6.0 technology for clearer calls.

Mpow H7 Plus although claims to have extra set of thin earmuffs, most of the customers have claimed of not using them for a while. Also million dollar question is if you are ready to pay 60% more money to get it alongwith AptX sound quality.
