Today’s purpose is to select a headphone for daily use which should be an inexpensive selection maybe $8-$10 & it should be comfortable for daily use.

So in case I lose it I don’t have to worry because it’s below $10 so that is the purpose.

So what I have done is I have selected 3 most popular models which are highest selling on Amazon.

• One is Amazon basics as on 3rd august 2022 the price is around $10
• Second is Sony MDR EX 15AP which is pricing around $8 &
• Third is Skull Candy Jib which is pricing around $8

So these are the 3 headphones which I’ll compare today these are wired headphones and with microphone what it means that I’ll be using it for call also.

Daily travel needs or general use I am selecting this inexpensive headphones.

The first point if you notice I have added you know photographs or images of all 3 for comparison.

The major difference if you see first is the 3.5 mm jack shape change. So Amazon Basics & Skull Candy have got a I type of jack or which is called as a straight jack whereas Sony has got L type of jack.

So I will come to that what is important in that, for sure.

Again these earbud tips fine I’m okay with that because most of them are designed such that it covers the whole range of ear canals.

Second important point since I am selecting a simple headphones and if you are using it with your Apple product in that case you need to buy a adapter.

This is the adapter okay this is apple lightning 3.5 mm headphone jack adapter so I have given the product link in the description for your quick reference

and I just wanted to show you here if you are using Amazon Basics or Skullcandy Jib then the connector and the headphone will get connected in a straight line like shown here it will be a straight line connection whereas if you go for Sony MDR EX 15AP then it will look something like this (bent). So you have to remember when selecting the headphone the type of jack which is important because you are going to use it for daily use, very very important.

and once you have this lightning connector then all the devices with IOS 10 or later like iPod touch, iPad, iPhone you will be able to connect these headphones.

This is first point I wanted to highlight if you have a iPhone device, Apple device, then you need to see how you are going to connect it to your phone or iPad and the type of connector matters.

The second point I want to show here again is that the type of connector matters because we are keeping it in pocket then L type of connector will have something like this and the cable will go like this L-type but a straight connector is I feel personally that it is better to have a straight connector if you are going to use the phone by keeping it in your pocket or even if you are keeping it in your backpack then straight connection becomes easy in my opinion.

So Amazon basics and Skull candy Jib will be selection in case you want to go for a straight connection whereas if you want to go for L-type connector then you can go for Sony one, so this is the point which you have to remember important point so I spent some time on that.

Coming to the comparison of technical specifications.

So again I have made a simple chart showing at a time you will be able to appreciate what are the differences

so let’s start Amazon Basics again straight connector, Sony L-type connector and Skull candy straight connector okay so this is the difference.

Prices I have shown as on today 3rd Aug 22nd it is around $10 & these two are around $8.

Generally I color background such that you know it will be easy for you to understand if there is a benefit I color it light green.

Now coming to the color options which you have for the headphones Amazon basics I got black, white, pink here also black, white, pink and here also black, white and pink in addition to that they have got only one green color whereas here you have got two more options blue and violet whereas here go you have got a range of colors

I’ll just show you see this is a amazon basics again see their pink sony pink and skull candy pink so pink colors are also different there is a shade difference.

So just as shown in one single slide so that you appreciate what are the options available with each company because for girls specifically colors do matter they want matching colors with their whatever attire they have so many times they need a pair of different color headphones so in that case Skullcandy Jib definitely scores more

now coming to the amazon ratings again I have picked it up from the website as on 3rd August it will change your time period but just to show you Sony has got maximum ratings which are over 25,000 whereas Skullcandy has got over 11,000 and amazon basics have got over 10,000 ratings.

So Sony score the highest uh maybe it is I don’t know whether it is because of this L-type connector or is it because of some quality of sound but anyway that’s the way people are liking it.

Overall star rating is best for skull candy it is 4.5 second ranking is Sony 4.4 and third is 4.3 amazon basics, but I will say all are simple similar because anything over 4 score on such a high rating like 10,000 or 25,000 is really a good achievement.

So definitely all score equal in my opinion uh in terms of overall customer ratings but if you see a detailed rating value for money, sound quality, volume control and noise cancellation then Skullcandy scores the highest, okay.

So you can just see the comparison here so in my opinion Skullcandy is good here because on micro level when people are rating it definitely there it their opinion matters when 10,000 people are saying something definitely it matters

What is common in between Amazon Basics vs Sony MDR EX15AP vs Skullcandy?

Now what is common is like uh the built-in microphone and controller common for all,

• 3.5mm jack is common for all.
• All can be connected to your iPhone devices or pixel 2 using the headphone jack adapter I have already shown the adapter and given the product link in the video description.
• Cord length is same for all 1.2 meters and
• warranty is same for on 1 year.

Differences between Amazon Basics vs Sony MDR EX15AP vs Skullcandy

Now details like frequency range if you see Sony has got high frequency range 8 kHz to 22 kHz

whereas Sony and Skull candy have got 20 to 20 kHz range okay.

Sensitivity also for Sony it is best and maximum input level also Sony is best

also Sony provides three pair of earbuds small medium and large whereas both Skullcandy and Amazon basics provide only small and medium earbuds so that’s the difference.

So which one to pick is very very important and in my opinion one of the major determining factor is the type of jack what you want to intend to use, personally I prefer straight one because I normally use it in my pocket while I am walking or whenever I am cycling so definitely for me straight line connector is better.

Now in terms of price I am surprised Amazon basics having $10 price so surely I will go with either Sony or skull candy this will be my choices because of 2 reasons one is the score is also high both value for money, sound quality, volume control, noise cancellation.

So their score is high, as well as their price is lower by 2 dollars uh as seen I’ve studied in detail on the amazon reviews and found that skull candy has got very very good appreciation from people.

So personally my choice would be Skullcandy at this point of time.
