Anker Soundcore Life Q20 Vs Q20 Plus Vs Q30 – Look at ANC performance graphs before spending $20 more

By Bryan 1 Comment | Last Updated November 25, 2023

In my last post you have seen the difference in between Anker Soundcore Life Q20 Vs Q20+ headphones (read article here) where I have elaborately compared both the headsets and now in this post I will be comparing the Anker Soundcore Life Q20 Vs Q20 Plus Vs Q30 what it means I will go further to check if I should spend $10 more (again) to get hands on Q30 instead of going for Q20+. What it means is that I need to decide on total jump of @20 dollars as compared to Q20 to get Q30 headphones.

So just to set the context, let me tell you that the Anker Soundcore Life Q30 are the next generation upgrade of the Anker Soundcore Life Q20 Wireless headphones.

Anker Soundcore Life Q20

The Anker Soundcore Life Q20 is the oldest of the three headphones, and it is also the most affordable. It has a comfortable design with a plush earpad and headband, and it is lightweight and portable.

The sound quality is good, with a balanced sound profile that is suitable for a variety of genres of music. The ANC is effective at blocking out ambient noise, and it has three different modes to choose from.

The battery life is also good, with up to 40 hours of playback on a single charge

Anker Soundcore Life Q20+

The Anker Soundcore Life Q20+ is an updated version of the Q20 with a few improvements.

The most notable improvement is the addition of LDAC support, which allows for higher-quality audio streaming.

The Q20+ also has a slightly longer battery life, with up to 45 hours of playback on a single charge.

Anker Soundcore Life Q30

The Anker Soundcore Life Q30 is the most expensive of the three headphones, but it also has the best features.

It has a more premium design than the Q20 and Q20+, with a metal frame and a more durable headband.

The sound quality is also better, with a wider soundstage and more detail.

The ANC is even more effective than the Q20 and Q20+, and it has a transparency mode that allows you to hear your surroundings without having to remove the headphones.

The battery life is also the best of the three headphones, with up to 48 hours of playback on a single charge.

So lets dive deep to each difference and elaborately discuss –

Anker Soundcore Life Q20 Vs Q20+ Vs Q30 Comparison –

1) Anker Q20 Vs Q20+ Vs Q30 : Headphone Color choices

In Q20 as well as Q30 you have multiple color choices available, Q30 have latest Sakura Pink especially for girls as against that Anker Life Q20+ comes only in Black color.

2) Anker Q20 Vs Q20+ Vs Q30 : Bluetooth multipoint pairing

Bluetooth multipoint simply allows you to connect your headphones to multiple (two) devices simultaneously.

This is super useful feature which was lacking in Q20 but available in Q20+ as well as Q30.

In the current Covid scenario where most of people are working from home the multipoint feature is super useful for headphones – How? – As an example, you are working on laptop or watching a movie on laptop, since your headphones are connected to your laptop as well as our mobile phone, in case you receive any call on mobile phone, you will be simply able to take it and never miss any important calls!! Isn’t this super useful feature?

So Anker Life Q20+ & Q30 both have this multipoint pairing feature 🙂

3) Anker Q20 Vs Q20+ Vs Q30 : Charging port – micro USB vs USB-C

If you observe then all the latest handsets are having USB-C charging port and the old micro-USB port is phased out for many reasons including fast charging requirement and faster data transfer rates.

Inline with the latest trends, Anker Life Q20+ & Anker Life Q30 now features all new USB-C charging port.

So now you need not worry about maintaining 2 charging cable sets with you, but simply use the mobile phone charging cable for the new headphones Q20+ or Q30.

4) Anker Q20 Vs Q20+ Vs Q30 : App Assistance

Anker Life Q20+ & Q30 both the headphones are compatible with Anker Soundcore app.

What it means is that while using Anker Life Q20+ or NEW Q30 headphones you will be able to choose between multiple preset EQ modes or customize your own, switch between noise cancelling, normal, and transparency modes using the Anker Soundcore app.

This is again a worthwhile feature since ANC selection based on your location is very much easy. I mean if you are in a subway or somewhere in a plane.

Now further comparison I will do only between Q20 and Q30 headphones – reason being technically both Q20 and Q20+ are same in terms of sound performance, so better to reduce complexity of comparison and focus only on 2 headphones.

Anker Soundcore Life Q20 Vs Anker Soundcore Life Q30 Detailed Comparison –

1) Anker Soundcore Life Q20 Vs Q30 Sound profile performance comparison using graphs

I have tried to simplify things using graphs reference data which is taken from rtings.com website.

My attempt is always to make things simple rather than technical jargon – so that you will get some guidance on what difference both these headphones have and anyway before you finally buy the headphones, its always a better idea to test them on your own for sound quality and take the final call.

So here goes my comparison graph – I have tried to put comments in colored box for ease of understanding as well as given in form of text below

However in case you are having difficulties in understanding the graphs, then I have made separate video on YouTube which you can refer to 🙂 I am putting video link below the post.

2) Anker Soundcore Life Q20 Vs Q30 ANC performance (noise isolation) comparison with noise isolation graphs

Now coming to the main interest area that is ANC performance

Note: Q30 (ANC) feature set to the ‘Transport’ mode

Look at the graphs below which are self explanatory where you can easily understand that Q30 ANC headphones perform much better than its processor Q20 ANC headphones

Again for those who have difficulty in understanding graphs and are interested in vocal details, I have posted YouTube video which you can watch if you have time. Video link I am giving at the end of this article.

So here is table again for comparison of ANC performance (noise isolation) of Anker Q20 Vs Q30 headphones :

Anker Q20Anker Q30
ANC Performance (Noise isolation)They can reduce low rumble of bus or plane engines, as well as blocking out background speech, making them a good option for blocking out chatty coworkers in the officeThey can reduce a significant amount of bass-range noise like Bus or plane engines. As well as a lot of mid-range noise like office chatter, & higher-pitched sounds like the hum of an AC unit

please note that graphs reference data is taken from rtings.com website – this is used only for illustration purpose

Anker Q20 Vs Q30 : Final Verdict

So by now you have seen that the Anker Soundcore Life have an edge in improved performance of ANC which is one of the main requirements in busy days when you want to talk to someone over phone and eliminate the background noise.

Also on the sound profile area Q30 perform bit better than Q20 headphones.

Also they have got technological aspects which are better as narrated in my review points 1 to 4, which are multipoint pairing of Bluetooth, latest USB-C charging port, Anker Soundcore App to select ANC modes ….

So in my opinion it will be logical to spend $10 premium over Q20 ANC headphones and go for the latest Anker Q30 headphones 🙂
