JBL Go vs Go 2 upgrade - IPX7 Fully Waterproof Design

HARMAN International when introduced JBL GO in 2015 it was never though of selling more than 10 million units till date !! So no surprise they want to keep same hold onto the market by adding more punch to the sound as well as making it fully waterproof .. and still maintaining the budget to the same level as JBL Go.

No one can compete JBL: only JBL can !

So here comes all new JBL Go2 which will further capture market .. making it difficult for the competition to penetrate … virtually making JBL king of portable mini Bluetooth speakers.

So it will be interesting to know the differences made by the company research team in this latest launch …

JBL GO 2 will give you a packed punch, super portable, compact, mini-bluetooth, latest trendy design, fully waterproof, easy to use, one the go type BT speaker with high performance and JBL reliability.

JBL Go 2 vs Go upgrade – What’s New?

  • New, bolder design.
  • Modern look with block-shaped design & newly introduced soft, curved edges. Purposeful use of Of-the-moment shades like Misty Blue, Lemonade Yellow and Midnight Black give a pop of color to the mini-speaker.
  • Next-generation audio quality with JBL’s signature sound.
  • Richer & Clear sound with more audio output in the same compact palm-sized design
  • New waterproof IPX7 rated design, capable to survive even when submerged into water. So use the speaker to poolside, to the beach, or on a porch or patio without any worries of water.
IPX7 means  it can be submerged into 1-meter-deep water for 30 minutes. Please  note that IPX7 means you will be able to use it in rains or shower, however dipping it inside water or use during swimming still may cause damage to JBL Go 2 speaker.
  • Speakerphone:
Built-in echo and noise canceling speakerphone, now you can enjoy crystal-clear voice calls.
  • Battery backup:
Powered by rechargeable battery pack to play music upto 5 hours
  • Aux In 3.5 mm Jack connection:
You can now play music via wired connection too. This will allow battery saving for your smartphone too.
  • Available in 10 new modern colors (refer to below table for color names)
  • NO Attachment provision:
Prior version JBL Go has provision of a loop on its side, so that you will be able to hook it to  lanyard or a carabiner, however the latest upgrade JBL GO2 does not even have this loop ! making it impossible to tie.
  • JBL Go 2 does not support JBL Connect Plus !
Yes, unfortunately new model JBL Go 2 doesn’t support the JBL Connect+ technology,  what it means is that you will not be able to connect it together with other JBL speakers.

I have prepared simple comparison table based on the information available on internet as on Jan 2018 which shall help you understand differences in a glance

The first version of the Go speaker has had tremendous commercial success. It is one of the best-selling ultra-portable loudspeakers in the audio market and is understandable given its selling price and performance. The JBL Go 2 is IPX7 certified, the materials are of better quality and the sound reproduction is powerful and better mastered. These improvements have everything to please mobile users.
