In this article I am comparing three models Mpow Flame Vs Mpow Flame S Vs Mpow Flame 2 in terms of specifications, performance, price and finally which one is best buy and value for money.

At the time of writing this post i.e. 02 June 2020, Mpow Flame the base model is available for sale from only one seller that too at high cost of around $33.5 …. being an outdated model there is no point in going for it anyway.

So I will be using Mpow Flame base (original) model only for sake of comparison and its anyway out of our buying decision.

Remaining two models Flame S Vs Flame 2, prices as on 02 June 2020 were $30 for Flame S and $24 for Flame 2 (for latest prices please use links given in specs comparison table in this article) So what we will be discussing is based on assumption that Flame S is $6 costlier than Flame2.

Whats new in Mpow Flame 2 ?

Extra comfort

Major change in Flame 2 compare to the base model Flame is addition of Ear wings which is added to provide extra comfort and no fall during workouts.

This is surely a fine tuning attempt done by Mpow engineering which I liked the most.

Powerful Battery

Flame 2 is power packed by 150 mAh battery which is 50% more power compared to the base model Flame or even Flame S who have 100 mAh battery.

Obviously the Music play time and call time gets boosted to almost 13 hours from base versions having 7-9 hours time.

The Standby time also gets increased to 300 hours from baseline of 220 hours … almost 80 hours more 🙂 best for those who want these headphones for travel and hiking or weekend outings.

Quick charge

Compared to Flame and Flame S, this headset supports Quick charge feature.

Which means you can get an hour of playback time within only in 15 minutes.

Call quality

It bears same Qualcomm® cVc™ 6.0 noise-cancellation which means call quality will be same as base version, which is honestly not so good. Base version also had an issue of background noises mixed up in conversation, so making slightly difficult to use in subway or highway drive with windows down.

Music quality

Sound quality in terms of listening to music is as good as it was in the base Mpow Flame model. Both uses dia 10 mm drivers.

Although Flame 2 is using QCC3003 chipset as against baseline Flame CSR8635, the sound quality remains moreover same. May be a bit more immersive sound using Qualcomm® aptX™ HD Technology in QCC3003.

I will say that the sound quality of Flame series headphones lies inline with  Power beats 2 and Powerbeats 3.

Bluetooth quality (connection quality)

Flame 2 and Flame S both headsets are using latest Bluetooth 5.0 protocol which is an upgrade over base Flame model which was using Bluetooth 4.1.

What it means is that you get more stable connection with you handset, and that too for longer distance plus interference free transmission of signal, you get more battery life due to optimized way of communication

Call Quality

Main improvement in Flame S compared to base version Flame as well as Flame 2 is cVc™ 8.0.

Yes, it uses Mic with Qualcomm® cVc™ 8.0 noise-cancellation. which means you get crystal-clear voice calls and conversation even in noisy environments or subways

Music Quality

Another difference in Flame S model is bigger dia drivers.

Flame S features dia  11 mm drivers as against 10 mm in Flame or Flame 2.

Surely when combined with Advanced QCC3034 Chip of aptX & AAC audio codec you aught to get larger than life music experience.
